Design is forward. Design is backward. Design is simple. Design is complex. Design is fun. Design is boring. Design is selfless. Design is selfish. Design is purposeful. Design is aimless. Design is interaction. Design is communication. Design is the problem. Design is the solution.

Design is everywhere. We see it, touch it, feel it, smell it, and hear it. When design works, we forget the name of what we see. Design can be the most powerful tool for creating opportunities for experiences. Design can also hinder the very same experience when misused. We must use design judiciously. Don’t let design run amuck. Even worse, don’t cage up design.

Design cannot live on content alone. When design understands people’s needs, it becomes something different, something better. Finding resonance to what people want and desire, design finds itself in a place where it thrives. This is what I come to believe interaction design is about. Human-centered design methods allow for understanding people’s needs. This makes design more than skin deep. This makes design useful, usable and desirable.

I am a designer with 9 years of experience, designing for communication, information and interaction projects. I am interested in designing for interactions that transforms our digital and physical way of life.
